Chris Kanyane – Librarian, Researcher, and Publisher
My name is Chris Kanyane. I am a librarian by profession, holding a Bachelor of Library and Information Science, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a Higher Certificate in Law Enforcement.
Over the years, I have served as a University Librarian at the University of Johannesburg, the University of Limpopo, and the Tshwane University of Technology, institutions where knowledge, research, and intellectual life are cultivated at the highest level. I also worked as Chief Researcher at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), contributing to national conversations on policy, society, and development.
My life’s work is driven by a deep passion for the intellectual development of South Africa. This commitment has led me to write dozens of articles published across South Africa’s national newspapers, engaging with issues of culture, society, leadership, and national progress.
My work has also gained international recognition. I have been featured in the New York Times and Reader’s Digest, and my writing is permanently listed on the US Review of Books website, reflecting the global reach of ideas originating from South Africa.
To expand the reach of these ideas, I founded Chris Kanyane Books — an online research and publishing bookstore dedicated to the development of thought and nation-building.
Chris Kanyane Books focuses on packaging powerful national ideas into accessible digital formats, including eBooks and masterclass-style conversational audiobooks. The platform houses hundreds of works exploring leadership, history, philosophy, governance, culture, and the future of South Africa.
At its core, the mission of Chris Kanyane Books is simple yet profound:
To nurture and advance the intellectual soul of South Africa through ideas, research, and accessible knowledge.
